OPTIMIZING INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES: THE SYNERGY OF QUALITY FUNCTION DEPLOYMENT (QFD) AND LEAN PRINCIPLES IN WASTE REDUCTION
Abstract
"Optimizing Industrial Processes: The Synergy of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Lean Principles in Waste Reduction" explores the integration of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Lean principles as a strategy to minimize industrial wastes. Industrial processes often generate various forms of waste, including material waste, time waste, and energy waste, which can impact efficiency, profitability, and environmental sustainability. This study investigates how QFD, a customer-driven quality management approach, and Lean principles, focusing on waste reduction and process improvement, can synergize to identify and eliminate waste across industrial processes. By systematically mapping customer requirements to process improvements and implementing Lean methodologies, organizations can streamline operations, optimize resource utilization, and reduce waste generation. Through case studies and theoretical analysis, this research elucidates the benefits, challenges, and best practices associated with integrating QFD and Lean principles in waste reduction initiatives.
